Short biography

Irfan was born in 1994 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He got his early education from Fazaia Inter college, Murree, Pakistan. After completing his higher school in 2012, he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad, Pakistan in 2016 with a thesis titled “Sandwich Structures of Magnesium alloys sheets containing nano-reinforcements as an interlayer”. In January 2017, he started working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at IST. In the same year, he started his Master’s in Materials Science and Engineering from the IST and completed his Master Studies with the thesis titled “Development of hard coatings and laser surface texturing on light Aerospace Alloy to Deposit Solid Lubricant for Application in Space”.

Currently, he is employed at the Laboratory for Tribology and Interface Nanotechnology as a Marie Sklodowska Curie Early Stage Researcher under the GreenTRIBOS Joint Doctorate Program. He is working on a Ph.D. project to explore Nanoparticles for green-lubrication technology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mitjan Kalin.
