The 14th SLOTRIB 2022 Conference on Tribology, Lubricants and Green technologies took place in Portorož on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022. The conference, which is organized by the Slovenian Society for Tribology, has traditionally been held every two years since 1994. This year's SLOTRIB, after a four-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, was held together with the IRT industrial forum for the first time.

The conference was opened with an invited lecture by the founder of the Slovenian Society for Tribology, its honorary member and initiator of Slotrib, emeritus professor dr. Jože Vižintin, who presented a broader view of the state of innovation in Slovenia, current problems and upcoming challenges that will need to be answered if we want to increase the added value in Slovenian industry.

A broader view of the increasingly important issue of the impact of industry and new solutions on the environment was further given by assoc. prof. Mitja Mori from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, who emphasized the importance of a comprehensive evaluation of environmental impacts throughout the entire life cycle of a product.

The set of invited lectures was concluded by dr. Milan Kambič from the company OLMA d.o.o., who showed how the use of premium hydraulic oil can reduce costs on a concrete industrial example, and dr. Aljaž Pogačnik with a demonstration of the optimization of polymer gears, in which he stated as an interesting fact, that today in passenger cars the polymer gears already dominate over classic metal ones.

In the continuation of the conference, there were other interesting lectures, which covered various fields, namely from conventional manufacturing technologies such as stamping, to increasingly current 3D printed products and the use of polymer materials for various applications, such as polymer gears. The organizers are pleased with the positive response of the conference participants, who received the joint organization with the IRT forum well, so we are already looking forward to the joint continuation and the 15th anniversary Slotrib in 2024.
