50th Leeds-Lyon Symposium on Tribology 2025

date: 07.10.2025

The 50th Leeds-Lyon Symposium on Tribology 2025 took place at the University of Leeds, featuring the dedicated Mobility GT session.

In this session, 12 postdoctoral researchers from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty Of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds, Luleå University of Technology, and Universidade de Coimbra presented their cutting-edge research and innovative developments in tribology and surface engineering.

Their presentations spanned a wide range of topics, including

  • Advanced coatings (self-lubricating, multilayer, DLC, etc.)
  • Hydrogen effects on tribological performance
  • Biobased lubricants
  • Friction–contact heat transfer modelling
  • Micropitting
  • Self-lubricating bearings
  • Superlubricity
  • Hydrogen permeation
  • Electrification of tribological contacts

Alongside the symposium, the 3rd Network-Wide Event (NWE) was also organised, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and training opportunities for early-career researchers.
